Yes — 100% free. There are no premium tiers, paywalls, or hidden fees. Every feature is available to all students: AI counseling, admission chances, college matching, essay help, financial aid estimates, application tracking, and more. We believe every student deserves smart guidance, not just those who can afford private counselors. Scholarship search is coming soon.
Our estimates use historical federal data (IPEDS acceptance rates, SAT/ACT ranges, yield rates) and statistical modeling. They are more reliable than user-reported data on other platforms. However, no tool can guarantee admission — holistic factors like essays, recommendations, and extracurriculars matter. Use our chances as one input in your strategy.
IPEDS (U.S. Department of Education), College Scorecard (federal cost/outcome data), NCAA Directory (athletics), and accreditation bodies including ABET, AACSB, CCNE, NASM, NASD, ACEN, and NAST. All data is verified and refreshed periodically.
Yes. The AI Narrative Lab helps with brainstorming topics, structuring personal statements, drafting supplemental essays, and getting feedback. Your drafts are saved in your account. The AI won't write your essay for you, but it's an excellent brainstorming and revision partner.
We take privacy seriously. We're FERPA-aligned with strong security practices. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, we run no ads, we never sell your data, we don't use third-party tracking, and you can delete your entire account at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.

A reach school is one where your stats are below the school's typical admitted student range — possible but competitive. A target school is where you're within the typical range — good chances. A safety school is where your stats exceed the typical range — very likely to be admitted. A balanced college list should include all three tiers.
Yes. Our database includes community colleges, four-year universities, and specialized institutions. Community colleges typically have open admission, so your chances will show as very high.
Yes, through Family Share links. You can generate a read-only link that lets parents see your school list, application status, and timeline — but NOT your essays, financial details, chat history, or email. You control what's shared.
With a 3.0 GPA, you have many excellent options. Use Admit Coach to find matches — enter your GPA, any test scores, preferred major, and location preferences. The platform will identify target and safety schools where you have strong chances, plus a few reach schools worth trying. Many great universities admit students in the 2.8–3.2 GPA range.
Admit Coach has a test-optional college finder. Over 1,800 accredited US universities are now test-optional or test-free. Use our filters to find schools that match your profile without requiring standardized test scores.
Admit Coach shows estimated net price by income bracket for every school, based on federal College Scorecard data. This gives you a realistic picture of what students in your income range actually pay. For exact amounts, you'll need to submit FAFSA and/or CSS Profile — but our estimates help you plan and compare schools.
We built a detailed side-by-side comparison. See Admit Coach vs Other College Planning Tools for a full feature-by-feature breakdown.
Yes. International students can enter their academic profile and explore US universities. Admission chances are calculated using the same federal data. Note: financial aid estimates are based on domestic aid programs (FAFSA/CSS); international aid packages vary widely and are best confirmed directly with each university's financial aid office.
A healthy list typically has 2–3 reach schools (competitive but worth trying), 4–5 target schools (solid chances), and 2–3 safety schools (near-certain admission). Admit Coach automatically classifies schools into these tiers based on your profile. Aim for 8–12 schools total — enough spread without overwhelming yourself with applications.
It's a complement, not a replacement. Admit Coach gives you data-driven college matching, admission estimates, and a 24/7 AI counselor — things many school counselors don't have time to provide individually. Your high school counselor still plays a key role in letters of recommendation, transcript submissions, and knowing your personal story.
Our database covers 3,500+ accredited US colleges and universities — nearly every institution that accepts FAFSA. If you search for a school and can't find it, try alternate spellings or abbreviations. If it's still missing, email us at support@gptkid.org and we'll look into adding it.
